The grooves are in exactly the wrong spot. They should be at the lower back of the blade, to catch and dislodge your enemy's weapon. Up there, they just get in the way for a clean cut. Looks nasty for stabbing though.
well,i can agree with your analisis,but usually when i design a blade i don't think so much at those things, i have imagine that this sword looks really beautyful(if it works with electricity as i have imagine) with some lighting bolts between the grooves on the top of the blade! otherwise i have thought at this sword for stabbing and not for slicing combat style
